Triple entrance archway in Ancaster Hard White stone

As part of a large new build project, we were asked to create a stunning triple stone entrance archway.

The client chose Ancaster Hard White stone, which is quarried in Lincolnshire. This hard limestone has been used for centuries in many prestigious buildings.

The first stage of the installation involved positioning the base plinths. The rest of the arch components could then be built up from these plinths.

Once the position of the base plinths had been fixed, the columns could then be added, as the arches started to take shape. The columns were built up in sections, making installation on site quicker and easier.

Once the columns were all in place, the remaining arch stones could be installed. The arched part of the structure incorprates six curved stones, three positioned either side of a tapered keystone.

Finally, the arches were completely bricked in by the client's skilled builder. The result is an eyecatching feature of the building, designed to last for generations.
