Case Study: Marble Fireplace with Balanced Flue Gas Fire

Our client approached us requiring a premium gas fire installed in a fireplace on an internal wall where there was no existing chimney or flue. This is challenging, as even balanced flue gas fires tend to require an external wall in order to satisfy their flue configurations.
We identified the Barbas Vento Classic 85 as the ideal appliance for our client, as it allows a horizontal flue run of up to 8 metres (following an initial vertical rise). This large format gas fire is designed to be built into a stone fireplace, offering a 'frameless' look, so it was agreed to supply a bespoke surround in White Carrara marble to suit the fire.
The first stage of the installation involved positioning the gas fire in blockwork which would form the base of the false chimney breast. Once this chimney breast was completed and plastered, we returned to fix the marble fireplace, and our Gas Safe Registered engineer attended site to test and commission the fire.
The resulting fireplace is the perfect marriage between modern technology and classic style.
