This installation involved replacing an old fireplace with a modern solid fuel appliance.
Our client's existing fireplace incorporated an open fire on a traditional clay lined chimney stack, common on many homes built since the late 1960s.
Our HETAS registered engineers carried out a smoke test on the existing flue, in accordance with Building Regulations guidelines. As our client's flue passed this test, we were able to proceed with the installation without needing to reline the chimney.
The Stovax Riva 40 Multi-Fuel Cassette was chosen as it offers the ability to burn smokeless coal in addition to wood. This appliance also incorporates advanced combustion technologies such as cleanburn and airwash, to offer an overall fuel efficiency of up to 82%.
The installation was finished with a frame and hearth in Black Satino Granite, cut in our own masonry works. The frame offers not only aesthetic appeal, but also covers the plaster around the fireplace opening, which can be susceptible to cracking due to the heat produced by these efficient appliances.
