Case Study: Woodburning Cassette Stove
Location: Saffron Walden
Appliance: Barbas Unilux-3 52 Woodburning Cassette
Frame and Hearth: Hebron Gold limestone
Our client visited us with a view to replacing her brick fireplace with a modern built-in stove and contemporary style of surround.
Built-in stoves offer efficiencies of up to around 80%, due to their glass door and advanced combustion technologies.
Having settled on a woodburning appliance, as opposed to multi-fuel or gas, the Barbas Unilux-3 52 was chosen by our client due to its attractive proportions and minimal contemporary styling.
Our client wanted a simple stone frame and hearth, rather than a complete mantelpiece with shelf. Hebron Gold limestone was chosen, for its warm, golden tones.
Our installation involved a complete chimney reline, This is necessary when installing a stove onto an old brick chimney stack which is likely to have deteriorated over time. We employ our own HETAS registered engineers, which exempts the homeowner from having to notify Building Control of a new solid fuel installation.
The finished fireplace has not only added aesthetic appeal to our client's home, but the installation of an efficient woodburning appliance has added value to the property too.
