Black Satino Granite has grown in popularity in recent years, as clients look for alternative finishes to traditional polished granite.

The surface of this granite is brought into contact with flames, to provide a rough texture, which is then brushed to remove any sharp burrs. The result is a tactile surface which feels a bit like leather, and offers a contemporary matt look.

Our client for this project had designed a contemporary hand made kitchen using stunning dark oak cabinetry, and was looking for something different for the work surfaces.

This installation featured a long island unit, with a large end panel joined to the worktop using a mitred joint. Central to the island worktop is a hob installation, with a square undermounted sink towards the far end.
